Paying in and out from Ireland: cards, Apple Pay, PayPal and the rest

How you deposit decides more than you'd think: how fast you get paid, whether an offer applies, and how much paperwork you'll get.

First, credit cards are out. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 bans gambling on credit in Ireland, so licensed sites take debit cards only.

MethodDepositWithdrawNotes
Debit cardInstant1 to 5 working daysAccepted almost everywhere. The safe default.
Revolut or another app bankInstantSame as any debit cardHandy because you can freeze the card or block gambling in the app.
Apple Pay / Google PayInstantUsually back to the card behind itQuick on a phone; not every site supports it for withdrawals.
PayPalInstantOften within a dayFast and keeps your card details off the casino. Only some sites have it.
Skrill / NetellerInstantOften within a dayFast, but some casinos exclude them from offers.
Bank transferCan take a day1 to 5 working daysSlow, but fine for big withdrawals.

Withdrawals go back the way they came

To stop fraud and money laundering, casinos pay you back to the method you deposited with wherever they can. If you want withdrawals to PayPal, deposit with PayPal.

The name has to match

The card or wallet has to be in your name, the same name as the casino account. Using someone else's will stop a withdrawal and can get the account closed.

The best limit is at the bank

Most banks now let you block gambling payments from inside their app. It works on every casino at once and you can't override it at 1am on a losing night, which makes it better than any limit a casino offers. More on safer gambling.

Your safety comes first

Gambling is entertainment that costs money, not a way to make it. Set a limit before you play and stop when it's gone. If it's stopped being fun, talk to someone.
