A withdrawal goes through three stages, and the time you wait is all three added together:
| Stage | What's happening | Usually |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Your request sits in a queue before anyone looks at it. On some sites you can cancel it during this window and play the money back, which is worth not doing. | 0 to 72 hours |
| Processing | The casino checks your account, your play and your documents, then approves it. | Minutes to 3 working days |
| Payment | The money actually moves to your card, bank or e-wallet. | Instant to 5 working days |
When a casino advertises "fast withdrawals" it usually means the processing stage only.
Verification is the big one
Licensed casinos have to confirm who you are before they pay out, so at some point you'll be asked for photo ID, a recent utility bill or bank statement, and proof of the card or wallet you paid with. For bigger amounts, or if your deposits jump, expect a request for source of funds: payslips or bank statements showing where the money came from.
Some sites do all this at sign-up. Others wait until your first withdrawal, or until you cross a threshold, which is why a first withdrawal is often far slower than the ones after it. A big win can trigger a fresh round of checks too.
How long each method takes once it's approved
| Method | Usually | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal, Skrill, Neteller | Within 24 hours, often faster | Not every casino offers them, and some leave them out of offers |
| Debit card | 1 to 5 working days | Depends on your bank; some now land same day |
| Apple Pay / Google Pay | Paid back to the card behind it | Same timing as a debit card |
| Bank transfer | 1 to 5 working days | Fine for large amounts, rarely quick |
Most casinos pay back to whatever you deposited with. Deposit by card and you'll normally have to withdraw to that card, even if you'd rather use PayPal.
Getting paid faster
- Upload your documents the day you open the account, not the day you want paying.
- Use the same method in and out.
- Clear or cancel any bonus before you withdraw. An active bonus with wagering left can block it.
- Check the maximum withdrawal per week or month before you play, not after a win.
- Ask during working hours. A lot of sites process by hand, so a Friday night request can sit until Monday.
Things that should worry you
Withdrawals being "reversed" back into your balance over and over. A new document request every time you ask to be paid. A low monthly cap that means a decent win takes months to collect. No licence details anywhere, and nowhere to complain. Any one of these is a reason to stop depositing.
